Close-up Exhibition】Ruins on the shores of Sea of Galilee, Israel - Hippos and Ein Gev

12 December, 2020 - 31 January, 2021 Close-up Exhibition Ruins on the shores of Sea of Galilee, Israel - Hippos and Ein Gev

Sea of Galilee (Lake Tiberias) is located in northern Israel. At the archaeological site of Ein Gev, on the eastern shore of the lake, excavations by a Japanese team unearthed a settlement from the Hellenistic period. The archaeological site of Hippos (also known as Susita, or Qal'at al-Husn), located on a hilltop overlooking Ein Gev site, is the remains of a city that flourished as a regional center during the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. It is now being investigated by an Israeli team (University of Haifa), and excavations are continuing.
In this exhibition, the results of joint research by the Japanese and Israeli teams at the sites of Ein Gev and Hippos will be introduced via posters and models.
